MAKEBA TERRACE

The project is a terrace connecting the Dr Miriam Makeba Auditorium with Unisa’s world renowned Cycad garden. KWPCREATE has also won the competition to undertake the Cycad Garden’s re-development in 2016.

The Terrace links the themes of the protection of the hopes and dreams of our children with the protection of South Africa’s indigenous Cycads.

The materials we used link with the rest of the campus, especially with the recent development of the Kgorong entrance building. Amongst other materials we also made use of natural granite cobbles, concrete coloured pavers and the autumn coloured slate cladding.
