HOUSE NAGEL

This family-centered getaway outside Hoedspruit creates a sheltered courtyard where children can play freely while being safe from the wild. The natural material palette and free-flowing spaces create a constant dialogue with the bush, with a chemical free bio-pool enhancing the exchange. The design responds sensitively to the environment, both climatically, with a generous verandah and deep roof overhangs, and responding carefully to the site, morphing around indigenous trees and giving long glimpses into the riverbed to the east.
